Tango

Thanks to my wonderful friend Charlotte I got to discover the sensual world of Tango in Montréal. Right above one of my favourite international live music bars, Les Bobards, on Boulevard St. Laurent is a whole new world of dance with a sexy flair in the air.

The stairs take you up to Air de Tango studio and you enter a large open space, lit with colourful spotlights, reflected in mirrors, lined with small round tables and a bar. There is even an exquisite shoe boutique in the back. Check out their blog with pictures by my favourite photographer Julia C. Vona. The owner and main instructor is Mylène Pelletier.

The studio is putting on a special dance evening for Montréal’s Nuit Blanche this weekend. They also have an International Tango Championship coming up April 21-24, 2011.

Their shoe boutique is also online with stunning dance shoes.

My friends stopped by and I caught them being shy on the dance floor:

We all got a wonderful performance by the pros, Suzanne Lavoie and Alejandro Villalobos, of Tango Electro Nuevo:

I’m always amazed at the things you post about, so varied and interesting. Do you also tango? I’m a terrible dancer but am fascinated by those who are good and there’s something especially mesmerising about tango. Great post.
